Titan 2000xd Pro Metal Detector Review

In this article, The Titan 2000xd Pro Metal Detector Review. we review this mid price point detector that is known for its Extra deep detecting capabilities and give links to several other more well known Metal Detectors in the same price range for comparison.! While this is a good metal detector, we think that either of the other 2 linked below more capability and features for your money.

You can click on this link for the Review of the Fisher F4 for comparison of a detector at the same price by a national manufacturer with a strong reputation.

Titan 2000xd Pro Metal Detector Review – with 10 Inch Search coil

The Titan 2000xd Pro Metal Detector is priced in the hobby Metal Detector segment and as such faces stiff competition from the well Known brands of Garrett, Fisher, Whites, Tesoro, etc.

While the manufacturers write up on this detector sounds great, for this price range, close to $400, If you are going to pay $400 I would be much more comfortable with a Garret GTP 1350 (just fantastic) or the Fisher F4, both of which we have reviews and give links to those reviews at the start of this article. And then Whites which are great but I don't have any reviews of yet.

I have never owned a Titan detector and I have never heard of the manufacturer.  But judging by the look and design I am going to guess that  it is manufactured by Bounty Hunter for Titan. Now Bounty Hunter has a few very good machines and are known for ease of use and they do find buried metals with ease, but they are not as durable as some of the hobby class machines AND their "department store" models hurt their reputation as a serious metal detector.

According to their advertisements the Titan 2000xd Pro Metal Detector with 10 inch "Optimum Matched" Search Coil is designed to be an all around Hobby class detector for those searching for buried Gold, Silver, Coins< Jewelry and Relics.

This detector is designed to be simple to use (as are most detectors now adays).

The titan does use a target identification system that I like. It is a multi-component one that gives you information about what you found in several formats. First there is an Audio Identification which has 4 different tones to help you identify what class of target you have found, that is backed by a target classification system whereby a LCD arrow points to the probable target class (see the control panel face below)  like Gold, Silver, Quarter, etc and then you get a numeric  indicator from 1 – 99 on the LCD screen. With practice you will soon memorize the fact that a 72 might be a wheat penny, an 88 a modern quarter etc. If those facts line up with the audio and the arrow classification you have a pretty good idea of what the metal detector has found under the surface. If one or more disagree with each other then there is a better chance that it is junk or a larger object and it is up to you to decide to dig it or continue on for the more positively identified treasure.

The included larger coil is great for more depth and to cover more ground while searching BUT in areas with a lot of trash like pulltabs or nails, the nit is harder with the large coil as the detector may have trouble handling the multiple trash signals and holding on to a good target all at the same time that it could have (by being larger there could be more targets under the coil at the same time)..
