In this Garret AT Pro Review article, I am going to give a review of the new Garrett AT(All Terrain) Pro Metal Detector which is good on land AND in Water.and then I will give you  a link for more information and where to buy it ON SALE!.

Summary: I love this detector at this price. It is a lower mid priced detector that is fully waterproof and has terrific detection capabilities!! Check out the review.

OK the Garret AT Pro Metal Detector is a great addition to the Garrett Line up and I have yet to hear anything negative besides it being a little heavy at the nose. As to its strengths – check them out below, there are a lot.

Garrett AT Pro Review – What are its strengths?

1) Garrett AT Pro Review – Water proof to about 10 feet. To many under water detectors have limited discrimination capabilities and limited functions.

With the Garrett AT Pro you get all the functionality of a professional land based detector but you can use it underwater.

OK most of us don't scuba dive but you can stand in waste deep water and have the whole unit underwater with your headphones on and metal detect underwater but still have the full target identification capabilities that you would on land.

That means sand and surf are no problems.

If a detector is water proof I have never had problems with sand getting into things like I used to have with  my Whites Coin master.

And yes you could snorkel or scuba dive with it…but only recommended down to 10 feet underwater.

2) Garrett AT Pro Review – Detecting Depth – I am hearing consistent stories from Owners of the new Garrett AT Pro of quality finds in the 7" – 9" range. Yes plenty of detectors go that deep but a lot of them do not find much at that depth due to the shape of the search "cone" underground.  With many detectors by the time you get down that deep there is just a very small area, like the tip of a cone, that the metal can detect an object in so you don't find much. The Garrett AT Pro does not have that problem so its depth is a true usable depth.

3) Garrett AT Pro Review – Silent- except for when its hitting a target. Nothing is more difficult then a Metal detector that chatters as it discriminates junk or randomly or has some specific noise. Automatic ground balancing lets you keep it silent as you change from land to beach to water. This is a lot better then trying to do it manually.

4) Garrett AT Pro Review Target ID accuracy -  Its target identification is very accurate. (to be honest most quality detectors now are too so this is just something that you expect and I report on to make sure the detector delivers).

5) Garrett AT Pro Review – Premium Headphonjes included -The inclusion of premium headphones and the Large 8.5" by 11" search coil. The headphones are great for detecting deep down targets or not having people hear your detector beeping and come running over asking a million questions. They WILL help you find deeper and smaller targets (especially with hearing that is not good like mine). Having them included with the Garrett AT Pro saves the expense for someone who does not already have a great pair. I like the large coil to cove  more ground  I find more targets with a coil like that.

6) Garrett AT Pro Review – control buttons – The buttons vs pressure sensitive pads. Call me old fashioned but I like the Garrett AT Pro controls. It has buttons that you press for targeting, sensitivity etc. A lot of detectors, even high dollar ones, have a smooth face and you press in a certain area on a label or graphic) to initiate a function. But trying to do that when your fingers are muddy or without looking down can be a pain. The controls on the Garrett AT Pro can be learned by feel in a few minutes then you don;'t have to look down all the time ore mess with muddy fingers trying to press in one spot without sliding.

Garrett Pro-Pointer (in case you were looking for one and got this article by mistake)

OK, if you have been metal detecting very long, or especially if you are new, you will come up with targets you can't find. The metal detector says it there but you cant find it in the dirt or sand.
