NEW Garrett Ace 350 Metal Detector Review

Optimized for maximum detection depth on small relics and coin-sized targets. The NEW Garrett ACE 350 Metal Detector  comes ready to hunt with 5 preset Metal detecting Configurations ready to go at a touch of the button!

Garrett Ace 350 Metal Detector Review (Thanks to Eric for loaning me his new one for this review).

1) What we liked BEST about the Garrett ACE 350.
I LOVE the ease of use and the factory presets:

With the one Touch operation, the ACE 350 powers on with the touch of a single button, adjusts easily for ground minerals and is immediately ready to begin searching. Some metal detectors require an engineering degree just to get them set up for hunting.

I love the factory presets BUT I don't count the zero and pinpoints as pre sets so to me there are 4 presets for metal detecting here.  They worked well with no if ands or buts. I tested each preset using a variety of samples both in the air and in the ground and the ACE 350 perofrmed flawlessly..

Definition of a PreSet – For New comers a preset is a pre-configured program that you can launch with the touch of the button. With some detectors (Like the old Whites Eagle I used to have) you could actually program it to accept or reject specific combinations of signals to optimize what you were hunting for at the time. With a preset you just click on Jewelry if you are hunting Jewelry for example and it will optimize the detector to hunt for Jewelry!.
The Garrett Ace 350 Comes with Presets for
  1. Jewelry
  2. Coins
  3. Custom
  4. Relics

2)  The Garrett Ace 350 Custom mode lets you Accept or Reject targets on the fly which I really Like!

This used to be just the high end detectors not at the lower price points like this! This is a great great great feature!

For example if you are searching an area like a park and it has a lot of old bottle caps or a house and their are a lot of old roofing nails you can have your metal detector ignore them by pushing one button:

  • When an unwanted metal target is audibly detected while hunting, simply push the Accept/Reject button to create a notch where the Target ID Cursor has signaled the presence of the trash. The next time the ACE 350 encounters the same trash item, it will not produce an audible signal.

You can also teach it to accept specific items in the same fashion. And yes that can be real handy if you are digging for relics at the site of an old house where the ground is loaded with nails. Set the detector to reject that signal and off you go!

3)  The Garrett Ace 350  Panel and controls are not overly complicated but give you all you need:

I like the coin depth gauge to the right. This really helps with knowing how deep to dig or probe a target. With my tests this was dead on accurate except for a big target. I put a $1 dollar Ike coin 4 inches down and it came up as 2 inches down. All the other coins and ring tests were accurate on depth and targetting. NICE!

Check out the great main panel of the NEW Garrett ACE 350 Metal Detector:

ACE 350 Metal detector by Garrett is powerful and easy to use!

4) The fourth thing I really liked about the Garrett Ace 350 Metal Detector was the DEPTH!!!.

I placed  dimes at 1 inch intervals from 1 inch down to 10 inches and then did a fast sweeping search pattern (not a slow one listening for a faint blip) and I hit the 1 inch thru the 8 inch targets with the dime! I even hit the 10 inch target on a slow careful pass with a quarter

5) What else? Here are a few more of our favorite features of the New Garrett ACE 350 Metal Detector

Tone ID—The Tone ID feature produces three distinct audible tones based on a target’s metal type and conductivity:
• High conductivity targets (such as silver) produce a unique belltone signal.
• Medium to low conductivity targets (such as jewelry or small gold), produce a medium-pitched audio signal.
• Ferrous targets (such as iron and nails) produce a low-pitch audio signal

It also has a phone jack that a lot of lower priced detectors lack. It lets you where sensitive earphones so you can really pick up the difference between treasure signals AND has the added benefit of your metal detector beeping loudly and attracting every kid and dog in the neighborhood!

The ACE 350 also  features increased resolution (i.e. more pixels) of iron discrimination. This additional resolution allows
more precise control of how much iron discrimination can be applied.

We also liked the special large search coil which has a ton of benefits

and we like the EXCELLENT users manual that is one of the easiest to understand that i have seen

and we liked the 8 steps for sensitivity and I could go on and on!!!!
