So Why consider the Bounty Hunter Pioneer 505 Metal Detector? I was not a big fanm of the Bounty hunter 3300 discovery. It was overpriced given its features compared to the competition. But the Bounty Hunter Pioneer 505 Metal Detector

Bounty Hunter Pioneer 505 Metal Detector Review
- Detect large objects up to 5 feet deep. Coins up to 11 inches deep
Well I don't know what constitutes "large Objects" so finding them at 5 feet deep is relative. But I think it would have to be a volkswagon to find it that deep. So lets focus on the realistic.
I have read plenty of first hand user accounts of the Bounty Hunter Pioneer 505 Metal Detector finding coins 9, 10, and even 12 inches deep.
That is incredible for an inexpensive detector like this!
The Bounty Hunter Pioneer 505 Metal Detectors control panel.
While the Bounty Hunter Pioneer 505 Metal Detector is a big improvement over some of it spredecessors it is in an area of steep competition from the Fisher F2, Garrett Acve 250 and Garrett ACE 350 and the Alpha Teknetics 2000.
Which is better?
At the end of the day I still like The Ace machines and the Teknetic Machine better. Overall they have the edge on functionality and Ease of use which is a biggie for me. If you like going thru manuals and following a lot of steps then you may like the 505 as much as the Ace 250.
But the Ace 350 is out of its class (but to be fair it is aroumd $100 more) and the Teknetics Alpha 2000 beats it too. Still it is a very good machine if not a little bit complicated for new Metal detector Hobbyists. If you compare the Bounty Hunter Pioneer 505 Metal Detector Control face with the Garrett ACE 250 on the right it is clear to see that the ACE 250 is more intuitive to use. I have studied both of their control manuals and the Ace 250 is definatley easier to learn and use.
The Bounty Hunter Pioneer 505 Metal Detector – what else is really important?
- No-Motion All-Metals/Pinpoint – for determining the targets exact location before you dig
- Motion All-Metals – for archealogical type hunting where you want to dig every target.
- Discrimination – For use in coin, gold, silver, jewelry hunting. It filters out garbage like pop tops.
- Notch – lets you accept or reject specific targets. This is cool. If you are in an area and it has a lot of old nails but you don't want old nails, you can reject that type of signal and it won't notify you when it passes over one again. Nice.
- Auto Notch – automatically filtering out specific categories.
Automatic and Manual Ground Trac – must have for adverse soil types
- Sees through the earth's naturally occurring minerals.
- Automatically scans the soil in the Motion Modes and continuously adjusts to changing soil conditions.
- Lets user control the Ground Balance function in No-Motion Mode, for specialized detecting applications.
LCD Depth Reading Meter: I have heard that this is very accurate on this detector
- Real depth indicator displays depth of coin sized objects in inches
Bounty Hunter Pioneer 505 Metal Detector – What Else?
- The Bounty Hunter Pioneer 505 Metal Detector is Super light weight – under 3 pounds,
- The Bounty Hunter Pioneer 505 Metal Detector is Made in the USA
- The Bounty Hunter Pioneer 505 Metal Detector has a 5 year limited warranty,
- The Bounty Hunter Pioneer 505 Metal Detector has a 3-Tone Target Identification – I had this on another detector and it works great. With this system Different types of metals induce different tones:.
- Low tone for iron, nickel and small gold.
- Medium tone for zinc, large gold and most trash
- High tone silver and copper
"This is my first detector and it worked incredibly well.
Worked great on the beach, it does take some time to learn, but was not difficult as they give you a great video that explans it all.
Once you learn how to use it, it will pickup everything. Also keep in mind it takes 15 minutes to adjust to the temperature so it works correctly.
So more than likely the person who gave it a bad review did not read the manual. I found items well over a foot deep.
My first find was a 1915 penny
